How To Visit

Park at the NYMT

  • Enter the New York Museum of Transportation at 6393 East River Road
  • Follow the driveway across the tracks to the parking area on your right, and park.
  • Follow the signs to the main entrance near the buses.

Explore the NYMT

The NYMT features a collection of antique trolley cars, a steam locomotive, a fire truck, an operating model railroad, many other vehicles, exhibits of photographs and artifacts pertaining to local transportation history, a research library, and a gift shop.

Ride to the R&GVRRM

Weather permitting, track cars, diesel trains, and/or trolleys operate between the NYMT and the Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum on our full-size, two-mile railroad. Your ride takes approximately 15 minutes each way. This ride is outdoors, so make sure you dress accordingly!

Enjoy a guided tour of the R&GVRRM

Enjoy a 30-minute tour of Industry Depot, a restored 1918 Erie Railroad train station. Various locomotives, freight cars, and passenger cars, are also on display in Industry Yard, several of which contain exhibits.


The museum is located in southern Monroe County just minutes away from anywhere in the Rochester area.
