In 1996 CSX placed an offer to buy Conrail outright. By 1997 CSX and Norfolk Southern had agreed to a 42% to 58% split of Conrail and the rest is history. Member Duncan Richards will present an exciting and colorful gallery of scenes around Rochester in the years immediately following the Conrail split of 1999. This presentation will look at how things have changed locally since CSX became the dominant player in the Rochester area, including some of the myriad of locomotives that were rented or “borrowed” to keep operations moving.
